The 2014 Awards
The 2014 awards held this year, mark the 17th annual Awards for Excellence, with a number of industry events held across Australia to announce winners and celebrate their outstanding achievements. On the 22nd of September, 2014 the Sydney & Surrounding Suburbs winners and finalists event was held at Doltone House, Darling Island Wharf in Sydney.
2 Nominations & 1 Title
Forte Catering & Events were very honoured to be nominated as finalists in two categories at the 2014 awards. The two nominated categories were for the best Wedding Caterer and Caterer at an Event. Against tough competition and industry peers the Forte team managed to receive the prestigious Best Caterer at an event award for 2014 to which the entire team were immensely proud.

Walkthrough of the Prize Winning Dinner
Forte Catering & Events were over on Cockatoo Island in February, catering O’Brien Glass’ ‘Best of Australia’ Dinner. The guests arrived on the island after taking a scenic 90 minute cruise around the gorgeous harbour ready for the main event.
On arrival guests were greeted with Australian sparkling wine and a delightful antipasto selection to dine on whilst soaking in the breathtaking view from the Naval Store courtyard. Guests then made their way into the white wash blue hued room to be seated before served the indulgent entrée of, Crystal Bay king prawns w caramelised fuji apples & salt crust crackling and bocconcini & truffled mushroom tartlet, shaved fennel salad and lemon dressing was served for the vegetarians.
The night then progressed to the main course which saw the delicately crafted Corn-fed chicken ballotine, pistachio & apricot casalinga, parsnip crisps, sherry vinegar jus, smoked sea-salt crusted lamb loin, heirloom tomato, buckwheat & green olive tapas, with the vegetarian option consisting of goats cheese gnocchi, caramelised pumpkin, sage and toasted pine-nuts.
The event formalities directly preceded the main course which saw the O’Brien team anxiously await the announcement to who won the glazier’s competitions and the unbelievable trip to Italy to compete in the world championships.
The announcements were then soon followed by the exquisite dessert of soft passionfruit meringue w sour cherries & rhubarb and dark chocolate opera cake w smoked pecan brittle.
Additionally Forte Catering & Events made significant enhancements to the venue by using the rustic appearance of the Naval Store and complementing it by positioning soft blue lights and arranging 4 plasma screens to play the video presentation of the recorded glazier competition.
